Design of a Reliable and Low-Energy Baseband Transceiver for Internet of Things

  • As the rising development of Internet of Things, under the fact of open medium, highly constraint resources and unattended operations, the nodes of sensing and communication layers evoke the demand of reliability and low-energy transceivers.A well-designed frequency offset compensation and phase offset compensation method is proposed for tradeoff between the demodulator performance and the system cost to meet the requirement of low complexity and high reliability. To our best knowledge, the performance of 1% PER (packet error rate) at Eb/N0of6.6dB is better than the prior works. Moreover,a five-mode energy saving strategy reduces the radio duty cycle and the overall power. The total power of this baseband transceiver is 371μW by simple implementation and deliberate mode management under SMIC 65 nm CMOS process.
